Rider Cup NYC: Staten Island Qualifiers

Shaolin, The forgotten borough, The 5th Borough, Home of Wu, Brooklyn with Parking, the Borough with the most nicknames and home of 50-50 Skatepark the site of the Staten Island Rider Cup qualifiers! We rolled up to the park a little early as we left early fearing the famous dreaded Staten Island traffic. Ed Pollio and the 5050 staff showed up a few minutes later and then the kids started showing up.  After sign ups, we had 2 eligible teams, so it would be a “straight to the finals” event.

In the end it was the Shaolin Shredders who went home with the $2000 cash prize and a spot in the Rider Cup NYC finals next weekend at LES Skatepark! Shaolin Shredders will be competing for a spot in the Rider Cup Championships at Kimberley Diamond Cup in Kimberley, South Africa this October.

Check the results and photo gallery below. Big shout out and thanks to Ed Pollio and the 50-50 Skatepark family for helping make the event a breeze and Carolyn and the CD Skateshop family for the BBQ and support!  Of course, thanks also goes out to Volcom for the support. Staten Island might have the most nick names out of any borough but it’s got some serious heart! See you next Saturday for the finals at LES!
